The benefits of learning music
Early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in reasoning and language processing. Research shows it stimulates the brain, increases cognitive skills and can increase memory. Some studies even show it increases IQ.
Students of the arts learn to think creatively and to solve problems imaginatively, in part because questions about the arts do not have only one right answer. Studies show these students are more successful on standardized tests such as the SAT.
Music provides children with a means of self-expression, of which a sense of achievement and self-esteem are by-products. Music performance teaches the young to take risks and conquer fear, which is essential to fully develop one’s potential.
As if the above isn’t enough, music students learn organizational and time management skills, concentration, perseverance and self-discipline. So really, could there be any reason NOT to learn piano?
